Yesterday daddy and Dominic had a day together and went to lunch at a local place called Salad Works, or something like that. Anyway, they sat there eating their lunches and enjoying each others company when Dominic got a bit rowdy and started wandering off. He got away from daddy and went to the first place he always goes when we are out- behind the counter. Of course, no one ever gets annoyed at him because he's so cute number one, and number two because he engages everyone he comes in contact with. As he made his way behind the counter, he took notice of the manager standing in his way and looked up at him, wide-eyed and wide-mouthed. As they stood there looking at each other, the manager said, "Hey there! You want a job?" And Dominic very deliberately looked at the manager and said, "NO." Of course plenty of laughter ensued by everyone who could hear this exchange. I wish I could have been there to see his goofy self denying yet another person who has been captured by his cuteness.
We're having a little trouble lately with the kitchen, though. Dominic seems to think the right thing to do is mess with the stove when mommy is cooking. He will sneak behind me as I'm chopping veggies and turn the heat to high, then to 'light' and the stove starts clicking and doing whatever it does. So we're trying to teach him 'no stove,' but he's not really grasping the concept at this time. It takes about three times of batting his hands off the stove and telling him no before he throws himself on the ground and throws his little mini-tantrums. They literally last about 20 seconds before he's done and onto something else more interesting.
I'm so glad to know that my little boy is starting early at being a boy and getting into lots of trouble doing boy things. He throws his toys; he climbs on everything he can; he likes to tackle and wrestle; and he LOVES looking at and flirting with all the pretty ladies when we're out and about. We were at the suit store with daddy waiting for him to get done and Dominic spent about 20 minutes climbing on and off of the window sill. He'd pace back and forth, crawl all along, jump down and do a tuck and roll. But after a while, he got too tired to get on it alone and after about 3 seconds of his final attempt to climb on, he threw himself to the floor and screamed like a baby.
It's unfortunate for you, Mr. Dominic, that both your parents are highly lacking in patience. You seem to have combined both of our traits and multiplied it. You, my son, have the LEAST amount of patience out of all three of us... and I love you for it!
